Pat Lordan

Head of the – Garda National Economic Crime Bureau including the Irish Financial Intelligence Unit Pat who is originally from Drimoleague, West Cork, joined An Garda Síochána in 1986 and has served mainly in the Dublin Region but also worked in the South Eastern and Eastern Garda Regions. Pat has worked in Community Policing, Drugs, Prostitution Investigations, Serious Crime Investigations, Fraud and Financial Investigations, Financial Intelligence and Cybercrime. He has held the position of Detective in all ranks and has been at the forefront of the investigation of serious crime for 24 years. Pat is a Senior Investigating Officer (S.I.O.) and holds a B.Sc in Management Law from Trinity College Dublin.
In 2015, Pat took up his current position as Head of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau. The Garda National Economic Crime Bureau is involved in many high profile investigations and is supported by Gardaí throughout the country trained in Fraud Investigation. Pat and his team have developed a Post Graduate Certificate in Fraud and E-Crime Investigation in association with University College Dublin. Pat was also the lead representative from An Garda Síochána in the recent Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Review of Ireland.

FBI Supervisory Special Agent Todd Renner is an Assistant Legal Attaché (ALAT) in London, responsible for leading complex international cyber intrusion investigations. In this role, ALAT Renner leads FBI collaborative efforts with United Kingdom authorities and industry partners to successfully execute the Pursue, Prevent, Protect, and Prepare strategy.
Prior to his assignment in London, Special Agent Renner was a Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI’s Cyber Division Technical Operations Unit, developing and initiating sophisticated exploitation opportunities for the U.S. Government. SA Renner also served as a Case Agent and SWAT operator in multiple field offices in the United States.

Dr. Nicole S. van der Meulen has been working in the field of cybersecurity for over a decade. She is currently a Senior Strategic Analyst at the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) at Europol. In that capacity, she functions as the Team Leader of the Strategy & Development team. Prior to her arrival at EC3, she was an Advisor of Security Affairs at the Dutch Banking Association. Previously, she led the cybersecurity part of the Defence, Security and Infrastructure (DSI) team at RAND Europe in Cambridge, UK, where she worked as an analyst.
From 2010 – 2012, she worked as a Cyber Security advisor at GOVCERT.NL, the predecessor to the Dutch National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC-NL), where she was co-responsible for the development of the first Cyber Security Threat Assessment, before returning to academia at the start of 2012 as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Transnational Legal Studies at the VU University in Amsterdam. In 2010 she obtained her PhD based on a comparative study between the United States and the Netherlands on digital financial identity theft at the Law Faculty of Tilburg University. She studied Political Science with a focus on International Relations and Comparative Politics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (Bachelor of Arts, 2005, Cum Laude) and VU University Amsterdam (Master of Science, 2006, Cum Laude).
